Pen Stock Valve


HVL Solutions attended site to Release & cycle the 54” Penstock valve and provide isolation. The Penstock valve was seized fully open with a suspected rotork issue. HVL Solutions completed this project using our HVL-VR lubrication valve release process.



HVL Solutions completed the following;


➢ Technical team attended site to inspect the seized penstock


➢ Removed rising stem cover and measured exact spindle thread


➢ Examined the thrust nut and rebuilt the rotork.


➢ Corrosion cleaned and applied required lubrication down the stem and guides.


➢ Applied HVL-VR release system and released the 54” Penstock valve.


➢ Cycled the valve to the fully closed position and provided critical isolation


➢ Saving the client £££££££££



HVL Solutions advise that this valve requires operating fully every six months to ensure these components do not seize any via a valve maintenance programme.

Repairing Gate Vale Recent Work


HVL Solutions attended site to complete 3 x 400mm gate valve repacks. HVL Solutions completed this project using our HVL-VR under pressure valve repacking system.



HVL Solutions completed the following;


➢ Technical team attended site inspect the leaking 400mm gate valves.


➢ Pedestals were drilled to gain access to the packing gland. d


➢ T-bolts loosened and packing gland lifted then drilled and tapped.


➢ HVL-VR under pressure repacking system was applied using WRAS approved PTFE fibres.


➢ Gland was retightened once the full complete seal was achieved.


➢ Sharp edges were filed down created by drilling.


➢ All valves were left repacked and fully operational.

NEW PROJECT FOR THAMES WATER

Thames Water are recommissioning two mains that have been out of service for over twenty years. There task was to get the two emergency pipes commissioned so they have an emergency lines connecting from the reservoir to the river. There were several unknown valves on lines that we surveyed. HVL Solutions successfully surveyed, maintained, released & cycled these valves. Some valves were required decommissioning. HVL stripped and locked off in a open position on the valves. Further valves needed HVL technology & expertise. We successfully released and cycled the valves and saved Thames Water huge amounts of unnecessary excavation cost not to mention and price for new valves.


HVL Solutions cut and removed the old corroded packing plate bolts. This allowed us to lift the packing plate out of the gland. This exposed the valve spindle allowing us to clean and maintain the spindle. We cleaned the packing plate to allow better travel within the gland. With both gland plate and spindle cleaned we replaced the old gland nuts with new stainless steel threaded bar and nuts. The gland was then tightened down. Now the spindle could travel freely in the gland and the valve could be released and cycled by using HVL Solutions valve release technology. We repeated this for all the valves and left them in working sound operable condition. This saved Thames Water huge costs as each valves were located in chambers. The structural changes needed if the valves were deemed not repairable with huge excavation costs, not to mention road closures and extra permits required. This project was completed professionally and all within our granted time frame. This is an example of how HVL solutions can help maintain and service any valve on your network.

Trimpley Reservoir

HVL Solutions have recently completed a civil engineering project at Trimpley Reservoir, near Kidderminster on behalf of Nomenca for Severn Trent Water. This project involved a range of different aspects, from underground & overground potable water pipe laying, pump installations & road crossings to more traditional civil constructions, including a new car park & retaining walls. Our expertise in both water related & broader civils-based projects allowed us to deal with the entire project, allowing it to be delivered with the minimum amount of disruption.
